Oleg Budargin, Chairman of the Board of JSC FGC UES thanks PJSC Stroytransgaz for the quality and timeliness in carrying out operations

On November 14 2012 PJSC Stroytransgaz, as the general contractor of the project, commissioned all of the power distribution facilities at energy block No. 4 of the Kalinin Nuclear Power Plant.

28 construction and installation contractors and 7 design institutes participated in the project realization. In addition, over 500 units of building machinery and over 3000 engineers and workers were involved in the installation and commissioning activities. The construction lasted over 600 days. The project implementation commenced in the 2nd quarter 2010. The actual period of the facilities design and construction made about 20 months. As a result, the Moscow and Vologda power systems will gain additional capacity of approximately 1 GW.

582.6 km of power lines and 8,140 MW of transformer capacity were constructed within the frames of the comprehensive construction project, including the 750 kV HV line from the Kalinin nuclear power plant to Gribovo with the 750 kV Gribovo Substation, and the 500 kV HV line from Gribovo to Dorokhovo with the 500 kV Dorokhovo Substation, and the 220 kV Dorokhovo-Sloboda 1 and 2 aerial cable lines. Moreover, the 750 kV Belozerskaya Substation with the unique AT 750/500 kV autotransformer unit has been expanded and construction of the 220 kV Switchyard has been installed. New technical solutions were applied in the process of the project execution. In particular, it is the first time in Russia that the rigid busbar was used at the 500 kV switchyard.

Oleg Budargin, the Chairman of the Board of FGC UES, noted that the startup of all the power distribution facilities at energy block No. 4 of the Kalinin Nuclear Power Plant significantly enhances reliability of the energy supply not only to consumers of the Western districts of Moscow Region, but to the Central Russia on the whole.

Oleg Budargin thanked PJSC Stroytransgaz, the general contractor, for the quality and efficiency of the work. “This has been our first joint project. But by uniting the efforts of builders and power engineers and with the support of the regional state authorities we have managed to complete the mission of the country’s government, which is to build a unique power complex within a record-breaking short period of time. And I sincerely believe that our cooperation will continue”, said the head of the Federal Grid Company.

Vadim Gurinov, President of PJSC Stroytransgaz, noted that it was a complex project, and there had been no such projects in Russia for almost twenty-five years. “The facility has been commissioned successfully, we did it within the shortest possible time”, emphasized Stroytransgaz’s President.

President of PJSC Stroytransgaz thanked all the participants of the project for the fruitful cooperation. “We appreciate the credence which FGC UES, as the customer, gave to our company. And Stroytransgaz did justify that confidence”, Vadim Gurinov noted.
