Stroytransgaz will build a new power transmission line in Rostov Region

PJSC Stroytransgaz has won the tender to sign a contract with Federal Grid Company of Unified Energy System to build the 500kV HV overhead line, ‘Rostov NPP – Tikhoretskaya №2’, with extension of the 500 kV Tikhoretskaya substation.

As part of the project, Stroytransgaz will also renovate the 500 kV Shakhty substation and line cells at the 500 kV Budyonnovsk and 500 kV Yuzhnaya substations, and will build two deicing units (by short-circuit currents), ZKRP-1 and ZKRP-2, and one deicing switching unit, PPPG-2. The company will also renovate relay protection devices (busbar protection) at the Shakhty, Yuzhnaya and Budyonnovsk subtations.

The new line will have a length of 239 km. It will run in parallel with the old transmission line (Tikhoretskaya №1) in Rostov Region and Krasnodar Territory. Stroytransgaz will have to construct two special crossings over the Cheprak liman and Vesyolovskoye reservoir. Also, as part of the project, around 110 km of 500 kV transmission lines supplying the Nevinnomyssk, Budyonnovsk, Yuzhnaya substations will be renovated.

This project that Stroytransgaz expects to complete by September 2014 will enhance power supply reliability using the power distribution scheme of Rostov NPP’s Unit 3.
