STG Group completes construction of a 500 kV Boguchanskaya HPP - Ozernaya OHL

STG Group has completed the construction of 500 kV Boguchanskaya HPP (hydroelectric power plant) – Ozernaya OHL, 329.9 km long.

PJSC STG acted as a General Contractor, the Client was the Centre for Engineering and Construction Management of UES, a subsidiary of the Federal Grid Company of Unified Energy System.

Under this project, PJSC STG (part of STG Group) provided for the supply of materials and carried out construction and installation works.

The constructed Boguchanskaya HPP - Ozernaya OHL runs through the Irkutsk and Krasnoyarsk Regions. The works were carried out in harsh natural and climatic conditions, in taiga forests with virtually no infrastructure in place. Heights differences reached 270 m. Boggy areas amounted to 42 km in length.

The new line crosses water channels, including 87 streams, 42 rivers, five lakes. The limit-exceeding amount of precipitation that fell out in the region during the performance of works in 2013 resulted in overflowing of water bodies and elevated level of surface waters, which complicated the construction and required the use of advanced engineering and technical solutions. Two crossings have been built over major rivers Biryusa and Chuna, in construction of a crossing over Chuna river the nonstandard structures of steel pile foundations joined by a framework were used. In boggy areas and frozen soils steel screw pile foundations were used.

The project also included the construction of 12 crossings over operating over head lines, 23 motor roads and one railroad.

500 kV Boguchanskaya HPP-Ozernaya OHL – is a high-voltage power line designed to transmit power from Boguchanskaya HPP to the Unified Electric power system of Siberia.
