LLC STGM will build a sports complex for SKA Ice Hockey Club

LLC STGM, a member of STG Group, has won a construction tender and will act as a general contractor for construction of a sports complex for SKA Ice Hockey Club.

The facility with a total area of ​​about 34,000 sq. m will be built in the Nevsky district of St. Petersburg in Latyushskikh Strelkov Street (Latvian Riflemen Street).   

The sports center will enable teaching and training of ice hockey players of SKA teams, the Continental Hockey League (KHL), the Junior Hockey League (JHL), organization of competitions and friendly matches, entertainment and cultural events, public skating on the ice when no competitions are scheduled.

Gennadiy Timchenko, owner of Volga Group, has been President and Chairman of the Board of Directors of SKA Ice Hockey Club since May 2011. In September 2012, in the interview to the club’s periodical, he said, ‘We do need a modern sports complex, where all SKA teams would be able to train. We have long wanted all ice hockey rinks, gyms, rehabilitation and medical centers, canteens and accommodation facilities for sportsmen to be located in the same ‘hockey house’.

The sports complex will comprise:

  • demonstration ice arena with stands for spectators for 1,000 places (multi-purpose transformable hall)
  • training ice arena without stands  
  • medical center
  • sports training area (multifunction sports and fitness facilities, squash room)
  • facilities for temporary accommodation of sportsmen for 84 persons 
  • restaurant and cafe
  • SKA museum
  • conference hall
  • support, service and technical premises.

Facility construction period: September 2014 – May 2016.

It is already the second sports facility in St. Petersburg entrusted to STG Group. In September 2013, the company completed construction of SIBUR ARENA basketball complex (home arena of Spartak Basketball Club) with an area of 22,000 sq. m, designed for 7,000 spectators.
