STG-Eco to perform stage 1 works for the Kursk NPP-2

From July 2014, STG-Eco LLC has been providing environmental services under the project for the transport infrastructure facilities construction of the Kursk NPP-2: a road bridge and a railway bridge across the river Seym.

The bridges will be located at 900m distance from each other:

  • a 4-lane road bridge with the length of 387 m;
  • a 260m long single-track railway bridge , along which the fresh fuel will be supplied to the Kursk NPP-2 and the spent fuel will be sent back in special trains.

STG-Eco is a contractor for Transyuzhstroy LLC.  Nizhny Novgorod engineering company Atomenergoproyect JSC (a subsidiary of SC Rosatom) is the Customer.

Currently, STG-Eco is performing stage 1 of the project. The Company  will develop environmental documentation (detailed design), including the standards for the maximum allowable emissions of contaminants, a set of hazardous waste certificates and waste generation standards.

STG-Eco will provide for the documentation approved by the executive authorities – Rospotrebnadzor (the Russian Federal Service for Surveillance on Consumer Rights Protection and Human Wellbeing), Rosprirodnadzor (the Federal Service for Supervision of Natural Resource Usage), the Sanitary and Epidemiological Center.

The works will be completed in stages: with the road bridge construction to be completed in October 2015 and the railway bridge construction – in December 2015.

Additional information:

The Kursk NPP-2 in the town of Kurchatov (Kursk oblast) has been under construction since 2013 for the purposes of timely replacement of the power-generating units at the Kursk NPP after their life cycle expiration.  The first power generating unit is to be put in operation in 2020.
