Stroytransgaz has completed construction of the right side of an overpass in Perkhushkovo ahead of time

This overpass was opened for traffic by Governor of Moscow region Andrey Vorobyev

The road traffic on the right side of the overpass above the railroad at the 33rd km of Mozhayskoe Highway was opened on February 25. Stroytransgaz PJSC is the General Contractor for this facility construction, and the Main directorate of road facilities of Moscow region is the Customer.

“Today we open the overpass at Mozhayskoe Highway. I am very happy about it, Andrey Vorobyev, Governor of Moscow region noted, while speaking at the festive opening of the facility. I am very glad that the company that has won the tender opens these two lanes ahead of time. Residents, summer residents are waiting for this facility, and I believe that we will have a reason to meet six month later after this great engineering structure is finished.”

“Stroytransgaz has completed the right side more than one month ahead of schedule. Governor instructed that the construction is to be completed within the minimum period, and we plan that in the end of June the traffic on the left side of the overpass will be opened too” Vladislv Pototsky, Director for Industrial Construction Project Implementation in Moscow region, STG PJSC, explains.

The right side of the overpass is intended for road traffic from Moscow to the region for the period of construction of the entire facility the traffic is opened on a temporary basis: along one lane to each direction from Moscow to the region and back. Currently, installation of supports is being completed at the left side of the overpass to lead from the region to Moscow.

The right and left side of the overpass (so called superstructures) include two lanes to each direction with each side 543 m long. The width of the traffic area and pedestrian sidewalks is almost 30 m. Total length of approaches and relief roads is approx. 3.2 km. The length of a surface pedestrian crossing equipped with an elevator is 37 m. The highest point the overpass is 13m above the ground.

The overpass will ensure free movement along Mozhayskoe Highway, regardless of electric train traffic, and will release limitation on decrease of the intervals in the suburban train schedule. Today, according to the Main directorate of road facilities of Moscow region, the period when the overpass is closed totals to 8 hours a day, while during the peak hours from 6 to 10AM, the lifting gate, regulating the road traffic, is closed for 3 hours 20 min. The existing traffic volume at this section of the motor road is 14,700 vehicles a day. Thanks to the overpass, approx. 50 thousand vehicles a day will be able to pass here.

The overpass in Perkhushkovo is a modern facility constructed with the use of innovative construction materials and technologies. The bridge will be lit with the use of energy saving LEDs, asphalt concrete is cast-in and highly robust, the roads are reinforced with geowebs, anti-tread strips. The surface pedestrian crossing is equipped with an elevator for disabled people.

The facility was constructed within the trilateral agreement for liquidation of crossings at one level motor and rail roads made by the Government of Moscow region, Federal Highway Agency (Rosavtodor) and Russian Railways OJSC. Construction of the priority overpasses, including the facility in Perkhushkovo is covered by the Governor’s “Free Passage” Project under the “Our Moscow region” Program.
