STG Started Installation of Piles of the Stadium in Nizhny Novgorod

PJSC STG started to install the pile field for the foundation of the future stadium for the 2018 FIFA World Cup in Nizhny Novgorod two weeks ahead of schedule.

The construction project provides for immersion of 10,035 twelve-meter piles. In accordance with the signed work schedule the pile field installation period shall be 8 months.

“STG proceeded to an important stage of the stadium construction in Nizhny Novgorod – installation of the pile field. The works are being performed ahead of schedule. The construction pace is good. I am sure we will retain them in the future”, said Oleg Shiraev, Deputy Director General for Operations.

Background:

PJSC STG (Stroytransgaz) was founded in 1990 and is one of the largest Russian contractors offering a full range of construction and engineering services in the field of construction of facilities for power grid, oil and gas, and petrochemical industries, transport and civil infrastructure. STG Group, a large multifunctional construction holding, was formed on the basis of PJSC STG. PJSC STG acts as a general contractor for the 2018 FIFA World Cup stadium construction in Nizhny Novgorod. The construction cost is RUB 16.8 billion.

A 45,000 seats football stadium in Nizhny Novgorod is designed to hold 1/8 and quarter-final matches of the 2018 World Cup. In the future the stadium will be used by Volga Football Club (Nizhny Novgorod). The stadium will be a multifunctional complex, which might be used for organisation of different public events including during the “off-games” period.
