PJSC STG Signed a Contract for Supply of Steel Structures for the Stadium in Volgograd

PJSC Stroytransgaz and KONAR CJSC signed a large contract for supply of steel structures for construction of the stadium for the 2018 FIFA World Cup in Volgograd.

The contract provides for supply of steel structures until September 2016 to be used by STG for installation of the load-bearing frame of the future Arena Pobeda stadium. The share of domestically manufactured steel structures to be delivered is 100% as stipulated by the state contract. The warranty service life of steel structures is 12 months.

At present 60 workers and 40 pieces of equipment are employed at the construction site of the Volgograd stadium. The groundwork has been started, the pit for the foundation of the future stadium is being excavated.

Background:

PJSC STG (Stroytransgaz) was founded in 1990 and is one of the largest Russian contractors offering a full range of construction and engineering services in the field of construction of facilities for power grid, oil and gas, and petrochemical industries, transport and civil infrastructure. STG Group, a large multifunctional construction holding, was formed on the basis of PJSC STG. PJSC STG acts as a general contractor for the 2018 FIFA World Cup stadium construction in Volgograd. The construction cost is RUB 16.2 billion.

A 45,000 seats football stadium in Volgograd is designed to hold group matches, 1/8 and quarter-final matches of the 2018 World Cup. In the future the stadium will be used by Rotor Football Club (Volgograd). The stadium will be a multifunctional complex, which might be used for organisation of different public events including during the “off-games” period.
