PJSC STG started construction of the overpass above the railroad Oktyabrskaya at Firsanovka platform in the urban district of Khimki. The customer of the works is the Main Directorate of Road Facilities of Moscow region. PJSC STG is the contractor. The overpass in Firsanovka is constructed according to project “Free Passage” as part of the governor-initiated program "Our Moscow Region" ("Nashe Podmoskovye").

Firsanovka platform is located at the similarly-named holiday village approximately 15 km far from the Moscow Ring Highway. Near the platform is automatic railroad crossing from the village to Shosseynaya Street which leads to Khimki.

According to the data of the Main Directorate of Road Facilities of Moscow region 125 thousand people live in this district. The crossing capacity in Firsanovka is 1,500 cars per day on average, and it is closed for 5.5 hours every day. A modern two-way overpass 463 m long is constructed in order to lessen the load of the crossing, eliminate traffic jams and economize time of the car drivers. It will go above the railroad at the height of 6.9 m. The approaches and relief roads of the overpass will be equipped with pedestrian sidewalks and noise screens to protect the residential construction located nearby. The length of the new part of the road with road approaches, relief roads and the overpass will be more than 1.8 km.

Now Oktyabrskoe Direction of the Russian Railways is increasing the number of rail ways from 3 to 6 (including 2 ways for high-speed trains) and reduces intervals between the trains in the conditions of increased traffic intensity. In such conditions the crossing will soon be closed almost all the time. The overpass will allow normal traffic circulation across the rail ways near Firsanovka platform.

Pavel Bulkin, Director of the Project, commented on the current construction situation. According to his words, the territory for future construction started to be prepared in January 2015 and in March the constructive elements of the elevated road - pole basements piles - were laid. The foundations of the overpass (foundation grille) are made of bored and cast-in-place piles. The overpass will be erected on 12 bearings. Instalment of one foundation grille with piles takes 1.5 months. According to the work performance schedule, in 2015 all 12 bearings will be installed as well as 20% of road approaches to the overpass (dirt fill with road pavement, safety fences, noise screens etc.), and 40% of the overpass passages. The roadbed construction will be started next year.

According to the contract, the project will be delivered ready-to-operate in January 2018. But, as the Director of the project told, the construction will be performed ahead of schedule.

The works in Firsanovka are performed as per normal, there have been no complaints from the local residents. According to Pavel Bulkin, the residents understand it is necessary to build the overpass and are sympathetic with temporary inconvenience.

Apart from this overpass, PJSC STG will build a reinforced-concrete bridge over a watercourse of 21 m wide with two traffic lanes and a pedestrian sidewalk.

The overpass in Firsanovka is not the first one which PJSC STG builds in the Moscow region. It is to be recalled that at the end of February this year they delivered ahead of schedule the right side of the overpass in Perkhushkovo at Mozhayskoe Highway. The construction of an overpass at the stage Mikhnevo-Zhilevo of the Moscow railroad is almost completed. It is planned to build an overpass at the rail way crossing in Tuchkovo village at 4th km of the highway Moscow-Borodino-Tuchkovo (Mozhaysk District). The contract for these works has been signed, deadline - March 2018.
