Construction of Perkhushkovo overpass is nearing completion

Construction of the overpass in Perkhushkovo  railway station at the 33rd km of Mozhayskoe Highway is nearing completion. The  right side of the overpass is already operated, and metal superstructure for the span on the left side has been mounted. PJSC STG is the General Contractor.

The works are done according to  schedule, and the left side of the overpass along with the main course of Mozhayskoe Highway is planned to be opened in early July. Then four lanes will be available for the traffic, two lanes to each direction. So far, only the right side of the overpass commissioned on February 25, 2015  has been open for traffic. Despite the partial restriction of traffic, vehicles pass this stretch of road much faster than before, when the ground crossing was used.

Konstantin Agalakov, Project Director, tells us of the progress in the construction. Nearly 3,000 tons of steel structures were used for the constriction of the left side of the operpass. The length of the  over crossing is 543 m, the waterproofing installation has been completed. Now the "STG" starts to lay the pavement of cast-in asphalt concrete, then the  top layer of the highway pavement will be put. Simultaneously, approaches to the overpass are built,
noise-control barriers and  lighting poles installation is in progress as well.

The overpass project in Perkhushkovo includes a modern sewer systems for water collected from the roadway. An overground pedestrian crossing equipped with a lift will be constructed for people with limited mobility. The surface of sidewalks will be provided with tactile boards to help visually impaired people to find the right direction.

The works under the project including relief roads and landscaped area will be  completed in  October 2015.

About the Overpass

The PJSC STG started the construction of the overpass near  Perkhushkovo railway station in Odintsovo district  in April 2014 to replace the ground railway crossing and ease traffic on the highway. This facility is of paramount importance for  Odintsovo district, as Perkhushkovo used to be the drivers’ worst nightmare for many years, especially in the holiday season. The level crossing used to be closed  for up to 8 hours a day, causing many kilometers of traffic jams. Now the crossing is not operated, and the new overpass is used.

The traffic flow in  Perkhushkovo area is about 10 thousand vehicles a day, and the new overpass is designed for 50 thousand vehicles a day. So the needs of the area are expected to be satisfied over the next 15 years.

The length of the overcpass is 543 meters, the length of approaches and relief roads totals around 3.2 km. The highest point of the overpass is 13m above the ground. The cost of the facility construction totals 5 billion rubles.
