PJSC “Stroytransgaz” excavated 250,000 cub.m of soil for the stadium foundation pit in Volgograd

PJSC “Stroytransgaz”, a member of STG Group, has finished the foundation pit works for Arena Pobeda Stadium in Volgograd, the total volume of disposed soil amounted to approx. 250,000 cub. m. Concrete foundation mattress is almost ready, placement of foundation slab has already begun.

Construction site of the new football stadium is divided into four sectors - A, B, C, D. In A, B, D sectors concrete bedding necessary for foundation reinforced concrete plate with the volume exceeding 50,000 cub.m. is completed. The thickness of the base concrete is 100 mm, it will ensure foundation stability and ground water protection and will not subside with the course of time.

In C sector the Company had to excavate below the design level, therefore concrete bedding is expected to be completed prior to the end of June.

In B sector construction workers started the foundation works. Concrete acquires strength within 28 days. Upon strength development the workers will start to erect monolith reinforced concrete columns and the first floor walls. The similar works will be carried out in all stadium sectors.

At present, PJSC “STG” has arranged the construction camp of the total area of 4,000 sq.m. comprising all necessary infrastructure facilities: head office with the conference hall for 60 persons, canteen for 200 persons, four modular entry control points, administrative building for the customer service and staff of the contractors and shift camp. The construction camp is planned to be expanded by August to accommodate the increased number of workers of up to 1,000 persons.

In order to prevent the landslide construction workers fix the bank side by means of excavation of approximately 130,000 cub.m of soil and replacement thereof with sand.

A great number of communication lines transverses the territory of the future stadium including those vital for the city: two gas pipelines, electric cable lines, water main to the city centre, sewage collector. Protection of the sewage collector is now organized and cable lines are taken beyond the construction site.

The stadium construction proceeds as scheduled. Foundation works at the stadium are planned to be completed at the end of August at the latest and erection of reinforced concrete structures of the first floor in November - December. Afterwards the construction workers will start to install metal structures of the stadium façade.
