Valery Shantsev carries out a meeting relating to construction of the stadium in Nizhny Novgorod

Governor of Nizhny Novgorod oblast Valery Shantsev carried out a visiting meeting at the construction site of the stadium at Strelka for the FIFA World Cup 2018 in Russia.

The information based on the results of the meeting shows that residents of Nizhny Novgorod lead among 11 organizer cities in terms of the level of interest in hosting the World Cup 2018. These are the results of research conducted by FIFA in December 2014 - January 2015. According to the results, 83% of residents of Nizhny Novgorod are interested in hosting the tournament.

As Head of the region noted, residents of Nizhny Novgorod understand that participation of our region in the tournament is a great leap in infrastructure development. “The World Cup will come and go, while the residents will enjoy rich heritage, i.e. the stadium, metro, airport, new rods and junctions, sports bases,” Valery Shantsev stated.

Commenting the progress of construction of the stadium at Strelka, Valery Shantsev announced that the project is entering the active phase. “The pile field is completed by 65%, approx. 6.5 thousand of 9.5 thousand of piles are put in. In June the constructors start creating a concrete slab. Taking the necessary resistance of concrete, i.e. approx. 28 day, into account, construction of reinforced concrete structures on the first floor is to be commenced in the end of August - beginning of September,” Valery Shantsev stated.

According to Director for Construction of the stadium in Nizhny Novgorod of Stroytransgaz PJSC Anvar Karsakov, all works of the preparatory period, i.e. soil development, arrangement of temporary roads, storage site, and main period, i.e. arrangement of the pile field, pile trimming, arrangement of pits, concrete blinding comply with the schedule. However, an industrial construction waste dump is discovered in the territory of construction, which will adjust the schedule a little, nevertheless, these circumstances will not affect the term of works. “The term established in the contract will be observed. The construction is carried out 24 hours a day. Piling units operate throughout the day, and earthworks are carried out 24 hours a day,” Anvar Karsakov explained.

As we have informed, in November 2014, First Deputy Chairman of the Government of the Russian Federation Igor Shuvalov made a working visit to Nizhny Novgorod oblast. Igor Shuvalov was accompanied by the Minister of Sports of the Russian Federation Vitaly Mutko and Governor of Nizhny Novgorod oblast Valery Shantsev.

According to Igor Shuvalov, “preparation to the World Cup in Nizhny Novgorod oblast is carried out in compliance with the schedule.” “There are no outstanding issues. In Nizhny Novgorod everything is arranged at a fairly good level, and good interaction is to be noted,” Igor Shuvalov said.
