For PJSC STG, the beginning of 2016 was marked by successful completion of the project. Yet another crossover was built in the Moscow Region within short timeframes, this time at the 87th km of the Mikhnevo - Zhilevo haul in Stupinsky District. The customer is State Public Institution of the Moscow Region “Management of Road Construction” which is subordinate to the Main Directorate of Road Facilities of Moscow Region.

Moscow Region Governor Andrei Vorobyov opened the crossover to traffic on January 12. Head of Main Directorate of Road Facilities of Moscow Region Konstantin Lyashkevich, Head of Stupinsky District Pavel Chelpan, General Director of PJSC STG Mikhail Khryapov, Director of JSC Inter RAO - Elektrogeneratsiya, branch of Kashirskaya State District Power Plant, Oleg Savelyev also took part in the opening ceremony.

“I would like to thank builders for timely commissioning of the projects”, highlighted Andrei Vorobyov during the commissioning ceremony in his welcome speech for the guests (district residents, journalists, motorists, builders).

Upon opening of the overpass the construction workers were awarded with letters of gratitude and letters of commendation from the Main Directorate of Road Facilities of Moscow Region and Stupinsky District Administration.

Traffic Jam Free

Due to busy railway traffic the crossing near Zhilevo railway station was closed for 6 - 10 hours a day. Now car drivers can avoid sitting in the traffic jams awaiting for the crossing opening and move freely along the overhead overpass with the six - lane road (three lanes each way) built by STG. The overpass length is 105.7 m, height is 14 m. Traffic capacity of the road bridge exceeds 50,000 cars daily.

Crossover for Stupinsky District

A new crossover is of strategic importance for Stupinsky district, its industrial area and special economic zone consisting of satellite town Novoye Stupino with low - rise development and industrial center Stupino Kvadrat. This territory will host about 200 environmentally friendly economic and social enterprises employing 15,000 persons. Satellite town Novoye Stupino will have about 10,000 residents. At present seven international companies have arranged their production sites in the territory with the estimated investment volume of RUB 18 bln. One can find here a shopping center, medical station, kindergarten, police department, sports areas and playgrounds for kids. Complete engineering facilities and regular transport connection with Stupino are additional benefits of the territory.

This is the second crossover built in Stupinsky District within the Free Passage project. In summer 2015 the crossover at the 1st km of Stupino - Gorodishche - Ozyory road was opened for traffic.

Everything old is new again

A new technology was implemented during the crossover construction - for the first time in the Moscow Region ash and slag mix was used for the bridge embankment filling. The mix used by the builders weighted approximately 700,000 tons and consisted of wastes of Kashirskaya State District Power Plant accumulated for the last seven years.

“It was resolved to improve the technology developed in 1970-ties in the USSR and use it while erecting this facility. The results of laboratory testing of ash and slag wastes of Kashirskaya State District Power Plant confirmed that they could be used as the embankment mass. Use of ash and slag mixes in future will allow to cut off costs of the road construction in Russia and avoid expensive disposal of wastes of SDPP and CHPP, it will also have a positive impact on the national environmental sustainability”, told Konstantin Lyashkevich.

“Free Passage”

The overpass is constructed under a trilateral Agreement on Elimination of One-Level Crossings of Roads and Railways concluded by the Government of the Moscow Region, Rosavtodor and JSC Russian Railways. Top priority objects including those at the 87-th km of the Mikhnevo - Zhilevo haul were included into the Free Passage project within the Governor’s program “Our Moscow Region”.

“Thanks to the President’s program funds were allocated towards the construction of the facilities of such high importance. Crossovers like this enliven the surrounding territory, enhance its investment attractiveness and provide additional jobs. A huge number of motorists will avoid sitting in the traffic jams and will easily reach their homes and recreation areas”, Andrei Vorobyov noted during the opening ceremony.

In 2016, six additional overpasses are to be built under the “Free Passage” program. For further details see news item of 360° Podmoskovye TV channel
