FIFA has presented the video on construction of Volgograd Arena stadium for the 2018 FIFA World Cup™

The video plot is devoted to construction of Volgograd Arena stadium which is taking shape as the championship approaches. A FIFA journalist has interviewed project director Sergey Kamin and Deputy Governor of Volgograd region Vassiliy Galushkin.

“The construction process itself started in November 2014. Stroytransgaz had to demount an old stadium and break a new ground for nw construction activity. To construct the stadium foundation the amount exceeding 57,000 cubic meters of concrete was required, that is 50% of the whole concrete volume under the project. The first milestones were reached according to the schedule,” Sergey Kamin told. “Great efforts were put in, the scope of works was huge. Though we still adhere to the work schedule, we understand that in future we may probably face a number of difficulties. To avoid it, Stroytransgaz sets a high priority task to work ahead of schedule to the maximum extent possible. The scheduled time of the facility commissioning is November 2017.”

According to Sergey Kamin, up-to-date construction technologies are employed: “It is worth noting that circulation water supply system stipulated by the project facilitates cutting of heating costs in winter and decrease of air conditioning expenses in summer. All materials used are eco-friendly.”

Vassiliy Galushkin highlighted that Stroytransgaz works at a good pace now and he is entirely sure that construction of the stadium will be completed on time. “I couldn’t imagine persons of certain age, say, aged 70 and older came to me to ask about the construction progress and compliance with the work schedule. I think it is due to location of the stadium in a very important place, at the foot of Mamayev Kurgan, and patriotism of our people, especially of senior citizens. I also talked with school children, in particular, with boys who kept up asking: “When will it be finished? When will it be finished? We want to play there”, the Deputy Governor of Volgograd region told.

“Like every other object that I have worked on, though it is not the first project of such importance for me, it is treated like a child of yours and you long for the first steps of this child in the adult world. And I am not the only one who feels the same way. The whole team eagers not only to complete the work and to leave but to have a chance to see “the beginning of adulthood” of the stadium if I may say so”, Sergey Kamin shared his feelings.

When all parts of this stadium of 45,000 capacity are assembled together, Volgograd Arena will be ready to welcome the whole world.
