Construction of Frunzensky Bridge is in line with schedule

On March 30 the meeting with participation of Andrey Deshevykh, representing the customer which is the regional Ministry of Transport and Project Director of JSC “STG” Konstantin Agalakov was held on the site of construction of Frunzensky bridge in Samara.

At the working meeting Andrey Deshevykh underlined the high speed of construction of Frunzensky bridge crossing. “Event in winter time the work was not stopped - now the piers of the bridge across Samara River and piers of the bridge across Bannoe lake was being erected. The completion of construction even of the first stage of Frunzensky bridge crossing will eliminate the jams for the traffic towards the central part of the city - the designed intensity of traffic on this bridge is 39,500 vehicles per day, i.e. it is very serious traffic in both directions”, the customer representative noted.

The construction of Frunzensky Bridge is in line with schedule. Currently, the major scope of works comprises construction of piers of the bridge. The bridge across Samara River will be supported by 8 piers, the Bannoe lake crossing will be supported by 7 piers. Currently, two Bannoe lake bridge onshore piers of the bridge are ready and one onshore pier of the Samara River bridge is ready. The intensive construction of the remaining parts is under way.

“The work is conducted on all fronts on the left bank - bridge across Samara River, bridge across Bannoe lake, main direction in the area of Shosseinaya Street. Preparation work is under way on the right bank for construction of supports of bridge across Samara River - wood cutting, construction of temporary access road along the railway is under way.  Rosneft gasoline station will be completely dismantled in early April. After that we will start construction of Pier No.1 of the bridge across Samara river”, Konstantin Agalakov Director of construction of Frunzensky bridge comments.

The design of construction of Frunzensky bridge implies laying of 46,000 cubic meters of cast in-situ reinforced concrete, 1,140,000 cubic meters of sand, installation of 9,500 of metal structures.

The main suppliers of construction materials are companies of Samara region. Total volume of supplied construction material currently have reached hundreds of tons. Sand is supplied by JSC “Samara Port’ and LLC “Stroytransflot” which already supplied 168, 665,000 tons of high quality sand for construction. Concrete for piers is supplied by LLC “Stroyindustria”. Presently, almost 3,882 cubic meters of concrete is supplied. Also contracts were signed with LLC “Samara Plant of Reinforced Concrete Structures “ and LLLC “Test Plant “SMiK” (Togliatti). They already delivered around 1500 tons of reinforced concrete structures to the construction site.

Commissioning of the facility will allow to debottleneck the traffic in the city by unloading the traffic on the Stary and Yuzhny bridges and will provide additional link of Kuibyshevsky district with the central part of the city. The importance of the project was noted by Governor of Samara Region Nikolay Merkushin. “In November we drove the first pile in the foundation of Frunzensky bridge. Construction of bridges will ensure attraction of the global transport flows for dozens of years ahead. We need to do everything to make the region a centre of the intersection of two of the most important transport lines “Europe - Western Chnina”.
