On March 18 the Ministry of Economic Development of Russia approved a list of 73 major projects implemented with state participation. The projects include reconstruction and construction of transport infrastructure, sports, health care and energy generation facilities.  Volgograd Arena and Nizhny Novgorod Stadium constructed by JSC “Stroytransgaz” for FIFA 2018™ World Cup were included in the list of key projects.

The list of such projects will facilitate minimisation of possible corruption and risks of implementation. “Each project was carefully analysed in terms of its significance, utility for economy, social sphere... significant part of these projects was supported because these projects are related to the investments in the future as they say. Now the main task is to monitor these major projects to maximise the yield from each invested ruble, to improve management efficiency”, Dmitry Medvedev said.

Construction of stadiums in Volgograd and Nizhny Novgorod is performed in line with schedules and some work is performed ahead of schedule. In Volgograd STG constructs the third floor of the future arena. The construction of the second stage of Nizny Novgorod Stadium will be completed two weeks ahead of contract deadline - in middle of April. Works on both stadiums are performed around the clock.

The matches of the group stage will be held Nizhny Novgorod Stadium, the 1/8 and 1/4 of the World Cup final. Volgograd Arena will host four games of the group stage of the final series of the World Cup. Each stadium has 45,000 seats. Subsequently the stadiums will also be used as a multifunctional complexes to host various mass events.
