PJSC Stroytransgaz will raise the roofing structure of the Nizhny Novgorod Stadium by the end of 2016

On March 17, 2016, at the construction site of the Nizhny Novgorod Stadium for the 2018 FIFA World Cup in Russia a regular visiting meeting was held by the Governor of the Nizhny Novgorod Region Valery Shantsev.

PJSC Stroytransgaz (STG Group), which is the Main Contractor of the construction, will shorten the timeline of roofing steel erection work by 3 months. “The timeline will be shortened due to optimization of erection procedure, suggested by the constructors. Now all the necessary decision have been made. The steelworks will be supplied in necessary amount in April, and in December we will see how the stadium will grow to its “full length”. During the next step the constructors will “build muscles” on this “skeleton” - Valery Shantsev said.

The construction of the second floor is being implemented ahead of target, the head of stadium construction PJSC Stroytransgaz Alexey Anikin said. “Three of the four sectors of the second floor will be erected a month ahead of schedule - in the end of March, the fourth sector - two weeks ahead of schedule - in the middle of April”, - Alexey Anikin reported.

For now 425 of 558 supporting reinforced concrete columns have been erected. The total area of the implemented concrete floor slab of the second floor is 12,200 sq. meters.

«In January we started the installation of the on-site utilities. For this purpose more than 10 kilometers of pipes shall be laid within the perimeter of the future stadium. These pipes will serve for water and heating supply, water disposal and storm water discharge. For now more than 1 km of the storm water and wastewater disposal piping has been laid, the work progress corresponds to the schedule”, - the head of the construction said.  

To end up the meeting Valery Shantsev noticed, that recently the stadium had witnessed a momentous event - the first football match had been made. “Team of Sport fans from Nizhny Novgorod met the constructors: I suppose, the match has a symbolic meaning - those who build the stadium played a match against those for whom it is being built. But it takes time and efforts before the first official match could be played”, - Valery Shantsev concluded.  

We remind that Nizhny Novgorod will host 6 matches of the 2018 FIFA World Cup in Russia, including quarter-final. According to the independent poll held in December 2014 - January 2015 on FIFA demand, 83% of Nizhny Novgorod residents support the tournament in Nizhny Novgorod – it is the highest indicator among all the 11 host cities.
