PJSC Stroytransgaz (STG Group) acting as the general contractor for construction of the Volgograd Arena stadium being built for the FIFA World Cup 2018 has commenced the construction of the last, fifth floor of the stadium. Concurrently, the installation of the main metal structures is under progress.

PJSC STG started in-situ concreting of the fifth floor columns in A sector 2 months ahead of schedule. These works were scheduled for June this year. The last floor is under construction at the moment: the A stand will have five floors and the remaining stands - three floors each.

Concurrently with the in-situ works installation of the metalwork of the Volgograd Arena is continued. Early in April installation of the auxiliary structures began. At present temporary structures on all 44 pyramidal columns on which the facade will rest are already mounted. This week in B sector installation of the bearing columns was commenced. Afterwards the so-called compression ring will rest upon these columns. This is a complicated metal structure which will unite the bearing columns at height exceeding 40 meters and on which the steel cable roofing system will be fixed. The columns, facade structure and the main elements of the steel cable roofing will be finished by the end of this year.

The grading and levelling of the territory in the zone of a roundabout pedestrian platform is completed. "Stroytransgaz" started the construction of the temporary road around the so-called "bowl" of the stadium which is necessary for moving of load-lifting equipment during installation of the roof facade metal structures.

The arrangement of the transformer substations located below the future roundabout pedestrian platform and the bases of the platform stairways is continued as well as laborious work on construction of the stands — the first tier is ready for more than 30%.

Construction works at the Volgograd Arena are carried out 24 hours a day, 7 days a week involving over a thousand workers.
