Olympic Champion Elena Isinbayeva became the Volgograd Ambassador for the World Cup-2018

On April 13 the Volgograd Region in the person of Governor Andrey Bocharov and two-time Olympic Champion Elena Isinbayeva signed an agreement on the status of Elena Isinbayeva as the official ambassador of the Hero City Volgograd at the FIFA World Cup.

As the official ambassador of Volgograd at the FIFA World Cup-2018 in Russia the Olympic Champion will tell the spectators and participants of the World Cup on the victories and famous people of the Volgograd Territory.

Governor of the Volgograd Region Andrey Bocharov congratulated Isinbayeva on this honourable and responsible role and expressed his confidence that she will cope with new mission: “No doubt, she will execute tasks of the ambassador on behalf of residents of Volgograd and the Volgograd Region to the fullest possible extent equal to the golden Olympic medal.”

Elena Isinbayeva thanked residents of Volgograd for the vote of confidence: “I hope that I will represent our city with dignity, tell how we prepare to the World Cup, what is the stadium construction progress. I will try to make Volgograd more attractive for tourists and football players.”

Upon signing the agreement the Olympic Champion presented posters of the host city of the Olympic Games-2018 and souvenirs to the students of Gymnasium No. 5, the first participant of the Football Volgograd Project. In the next several months drawing lessons devoted to football and participation of Volgograd in the World Cup will be held in other schools.
