Construction of the fourth floor and installation of metal structures has commenced at “Volgograd Arena”

JSC Stroytransgaz (STG Group) acting as the general contractor for construction of the Volgograd Arena stadium being built for the FIFA World Cup 2018 has commenced the construction of the fourth floor of the stadium and installation of metal structures ahead of schedule.

In sector А, the builders have started concreting the flooring of the fourth floor 2 months ahead of schedule. On the whole, the arena’s reinforced concrete structures are already 80% ready and will be completed, according to the schedule, in July 2016.

Alongside the in-situ works on the construction site of Volgograd Arena, one of the most complex and critical work stages — installation of metal structures has commenced. All the elements, necessary at the given stage, have been delivered to the site. Some of the auxiliary structures have already been mounted on the pyramid columns, whereon the facade will rest. The facade structure and the main elements of the guy-roped roofing will be finished by the end of this year. In total, over 11 thousand tons of metal products, manufactured in different regions of Russia, will be used during construction.

Works for erection of the first-tier tribunes, arrangement of vertical structures of the bypass pedestrian overpass and stairway bases are on-going. Grading and levelling of the territory around the stadium bowl, where the mounting sites will be located, is being carried out.

Laying of external water supply and sewerage networks under the bypass pedestrian overpass has been completed. Laying of on-site networks on the other sections is on-going — by now about 4 km of pipeline from the necessary 8 km have already been laid.

Construction works at Volgograd Arena are carried out 24 hours a day, 7 days a week involving about 1200 workers.
