On May 4, 2016, on the threshold of the 71st anniversary of the Great Victory in the World War II PJSC STG organized an excursion to the Nizhny Novgorod stadium for the War veterans. 18 persons - the War veterans, labor veterans, homefront workers and blockade survivors - took part in the event.

The veterans got the chance to see the construction progress and assess the construction scale.   The guests were invited inside the stadium to see the center of the future arena. Project leader Sergey Pichushkin answered numerous questions of the veterans. The veterans were especially interested in future use of the stadium after completion of the World Cup -2018 and whether the Nizhny Novgorod companies took part in the construction.

“We appreciate our veterans very much, everyone of you has made an enormous contribution to the Great Victory in the Great Patriotic War. The least we can do for you is to remember your deed and show our respect. In turn, we will continue to do our work properly, to build modern stadium which will become the center of attraction for the residents of Nizhny Novgorod after the World Cup is over”, Sergey Pichushkin said gratefully to the War veterans.

In the construction site office a tea party was organised for the visitors. In a warm, friendly atmosphere the veterans watched video about the stadium construction, shared their memories about the war and childhood with the constructors and paid the tribute to the memory of their war friends.

“Everything we saw today is great! The construction scale is really fantastic! I think the stadium will be very beautiful and will correspond to the international standards. It will be a big success for Nizhny Novgorod. Of course, I would like to attend the World Cup matches. I haven’t thought yet what match I would like to see, perhaps, the one where the Russian team will play. It will be great to see residents of Nizhny Novgorod in the Russian team,“ Tatyana Blokhina, Chairman of Veteran Association Usilovsky-1 shared her impressions about the excursion.

Nikolay Vladimirovich Karamzin, the War participant, expressed his confidence that the stadium will be completed in time: “I am very glad that I happened to observe the construction process, and I have no doubt that you will finish this enormous and unique object in due time.“

All participants of the meeting received flowers and memorable gifts featuring the PJSC STG logo - hand-made biscuits, cups featuring the stadium manufactured on this very occasion.

At present, over 1,200 workers are involved in the works on the site, construction of the Nizhny Novgorod stadium is being implemented day-and-night. Installation of the third floor of the future arena is being carried out in all four sectors. For B, C, D stands the third floor is the last one. The A stand will have five floors in total. Construction progress is according to the schedule. At present, almost one third of all temporary metal structures necessary for the stadium framing installation is pre-assembled (400 t out of 1,200 t). 36 t of main metalwork of the stadium covering are delivered to the construction site, and in the second half of May delivery of the first part of metal structures of the supporting ring is expected. Afterwards, at the end of May, builders plan to start installation of the main structures of the stadium roofing.

Simultaneously with of the stadium in-situ concreting and installation of temporary metal structures trenching is performed and in-site utility networks are laid. More than 2 kilometers of pipes are laid which will serve for water and heating supply, water disposal and storm water discharge.
