STG Team Opened the Season with a “Colourful Race”

On the 19th of June about 30 workers of the Stroytransgaz Group (STG) took part in a “Colourful Race” in Moscow. All participants of the preparatory Moscow marathon race received branded Adidas T-shirts and bandanas from the organisers. 7 thousand people warmed up and started to lively music. The length of the track going through the Novoluzhnetsky passage and the Luzhnetskaya embankment amounted to 5 km.

Many people were dressed in costumes which were diverse: a Fir-Tree was skipping leisurely, a Darkwing Duck was running, a Daddy Dragon was driving his Princess Daughter in a carriage, inflatable fatties were puffing, colourful ballet girls were floating around, men wearing ballet skirts, diapers and carrying pacifiers were following them, a group of Native Americans was caught up by a band of clowns, a Husband and a Wife were competing with a Snow Maiden, they were caught up by a Mouse.  A Father Christmas participated in the race as a STG representative, and after the race he was singing and dancing in a ring with other runners around the living Fir-Tree.

People from the USA, Italy, Japan, and France were along Russians. “Skolko eshche do finisha?!” (“How much longer until the finish line?”) asked one runner during the race losing his breath. “Three kilometres!” answered another one. Runners were dusted with colourful paints prom time to time: with orange, red, blue, and green ones. The nearer each runner was to the finish line, the more “colourful” he became. Food colors are safe but some participants from STG have not been able to wash off the paint yet and they came to the office with greenish hair. Runners were cheered up by volunteers and spectators during the whole race, runners were “caught” by multiple photographers and TV cameras, a group of drummers and then a wind band were setting the pace with live music and were cheering up the participants.

Weather turned out to be sunny and hot so running with no water was not an easy task! Some amateur runners alternated run and walk as early as after the first kilometer of the track, more experienced participants did not slow down at all. However, having reached the finish line with different results, everybody was equally happy since the first barrier of the sprint season was successfully beaten! The STG corporate team expects a series of races including the “Colourful Booom” on the 31st of July, a 10km Moscow marathon race in September, and autumn competitions of corporate teams where STG must do its best! At the end of the season the most active amateur athletes will be awarded with gift cards from a sport store where they may get ready for the winter sports STG season.
