A visiting meeting was held by Valery Shantsev, the Governor of the Nizhny Novgorod Region, at the construction site of the Nizhny Novgorod Stadium being built for the 2018 FIFA World Cup in Russia. During the working meeting the constructors reported that construction of the final 5th level of the future arena and installation of the in-building utilities have started.

According to the head of the region, the final 5th level of the stadium in sector A and installation of the in-building utilities have started - the constructors need to install more than 35 types of utilities inside and outside the building perimeter.

‘This is one of the most labor consuming and technologically complex tasks during the construction of such object as a stadium. Heating of the field needs to be installed this year, in order that we could start to work with the lawn turf next spring. Construction is well under way being implemented as scheduled. Now it’s time to start preparing facility commissioning - all the regulatory agencies are permanently present here at the site,’ Valery Shantsev told.

As Deputy Governor Dmitry Svatkovsky reported, tenders for installation of utility networks are over - the companies are starting the installation works. ‘In the coming days the number of workers at the site will increase by 600 more people. Today there are about 1,650 people engaged, soon this number will grow up to 2,200 - 2,300 people. At the moment we are shifting to the most important works, which will let us shape the inscape of the stadium,’ Dmitry Svatkovsky reported.

According to JSC Stroytransgaz Project Manager Sergey Pichushkin, the works on installation of utilities inside and outside the stadium perimeter which are necessary for implementation of the water supply and sanitation system, electric supply, lighting, heating, ventilation, telecom systems and many others are already being performed: ‘Today almost all types of works are under way. We continue to install temporary support metal structures. We have already mounted 9 temporary support structures of 16. The work on base preparation for crane with 750 tons carrying capacity which we are planning to compile at the site in the middle June, is under way. The crane will let us mount the roof structures of the stadium consisting of consoles and a support ring,’ Sergey Pichushkin reported.

We remind that Nizhny Novgorod will host 6 matches of the 2018 FIFA World Cup in Russia, including quarter-final. According to the independent poll held in December 2014 - January 2015 on FIFA demand, 83% of Nizhny Novgorod residents support the tournament in Nizhny Novgorod – it is the highest indicator among all the 11 host cities.
