More than 120 children have visited the Volgograd Arena construction site

The second stage of Navigator Vocational Guidance project, which is aimed at getting acquainted the children from orphan homes and boarding schools of the Volgograd Region with working occupations, ended the previous day.

The project started in April and from that time 122 pupils from seven specialized institutions of the Volgograd Region aged from 12 to 17 have already visited the Volgograd Arena construction site and the educational institutions, where construction occupations can be obtained.

At the first-rate sports facility of the Volgograd Region - Volgograd Arena stadium - general construction site sightseeing tours were provided to the children, they were acquainted with the peculiarities of the Volgograd Arena stadium and working occupations, much-needed while constructing modern sports facilities, and saw the construction office as well as the work of the engineering staff. The children saw with their own eyes how the stadium, which would host the matches of the 2018 World Football Cup, was being constructed. It was especially interesting for them to examine the stadium miniature - they asked questions about how the arena would be installed, shared their emotions and plans for the future, and, among other things, told us about the occupations they selected as their path of life.

An insight into the working occupations continued with a series of visits to the educational institutions and companies of the city. The Navigator participants have visited simulated fire station of the VSUACE, as well as sewing and repair shops aimed at the development of competences of bricklayers, tilers, finishers, wood-workers and carpenters.

‘At present the deficit of workers is growing, the framework for training of the middle ranking specialists is destroyed, the youth is oriented towards the office work and commerce rather than on construction sites in the remote regions,’ - the head of construction Sergey Kamin noted, ‘We want to make the work consistent, to show the importance and prestige of the construction and other working occupations on our own example.’

Press secretary of PJSC Stroytransgaz Evgenia Novosad specified, that ‘Navigator is a comprehensive history, the project having soul which can unite many people in the different cities of our big country for the sake of a good deed – to help children find their way to the future.’ She also noted that the success of the project depends not only on the organizers, but also on the involvement and activity of the participating children. ‘Today you have a unique opportunity to see the construction of the Volgograd Arena stadium where matches of the 2018 FIFA World Cup will take place. It is a unique project, the construction project that inspires residents of Volgograd, the city, the whole country. The history is being made right in front of your eyes,’ Evgenia Novosad said.

The next step of the Navigator project will be the visits of the children to the large-scale enterprises of the region in the end of summer, and the two-day Navigator festival will mark the completion of the project in the end of summer. It will be held in September as a multipurpose platform including professional orientation, sporting, intellectual and patriotic events. The results of the correspondence competition “My Occupation is My Future”, which is held in parallel with the vocational guidance tours, will be announced as well.
