The second stage of the Navigator vocational guidance project takes place from 7 June to 29 June. It includes a series of 6 excursions for orphans from the Volgograd region to the construction site of the stadium.

The project successfully started on 26 April with the excursion of children from Volzhsky Orphanage. The second stage that includes a series of children’s visits to the Volgograd Arena construction site was launched on 7 June 2016. Seven foster children of Kotovsky Orphanage had a tour around the stadium, learned about the peculiarities of the Volgograd arena and about the construction progress. They saw the process of construction of such a large-scale project with their own eyes, and asked specialists of Stroytransgaz JSC about worker occupations.

“The stadium that are building is a complex engineering structure. About one thousand people are working at the site now,” Chief Expert for General Construction Works of JSC Stroytransgaz Alexander Mescherskiy told the children. “Alongside with general construction works (in-situ concreting, mounting, etc.) there are a lot of utility networks and service lines at the stadium, which cannot be seen from the outside: water supply line, canalisation, electricity, telecommunication networks, low current systems. All these systems will maintain the operation of the stadium. The field deserves special attention. To build a real football field it is not enough just to level out the ground, spread the seeds and shear the lawn. It is a complex system with independent watering and heating. In future a lot of workers and specialists will be necessary for operation and maintenance of all the systems of the stadium.

After the excursion around the site the children visited the construction office and saw how engineers work. They saw the stadium miniature and photos of the start of construction in the meeting hall, where daily briefings and working meetings take place. The children also watched the video about the stadium construction, recorded both from ground and air. Finally they all got promotional gifts and booklets with detailed information about working occupations, and having visited the stadium, headed for the Volgograd Vocational College of Human Resources, where they learned about the conditions of entry, education and accommodation.

The Navigator Project is organized by JSC Stroytransgaz together with the Administration of the Volgograd region and is aimed at assisting teenagers in choosing the professional career, getting education and further employment, and thus at promotion of social adaptation of the orphans.

About 120 more children from different orphanages and boarding schools of the Volgograd region aged 12-17 years will visit the Volgograd Arena construction site in the course of future excursions.

The next stage of the Navigator vocational guidance project will consist in visits of the orphaned children to the large enterprises of the city. The two-day Navigator festival in September 2016 will become the central event of the project. It is planned is a multipurpose platform including professional orientation, sporting, intellectual and patriotic events. Together with the excursions pupils of orphanages and boarding schools participate in the correspondence competition "My Profession is My Future".
