The Moscow Region Governor checked construction progress at Tuchkovo flyover

On July 6 Andrey Vorobyev, Moscow Region Governor, inspected the construction of the flyover at the 4th kilometer of the Moscow-Borodino-Tuchkovo highway in the Ruza District. The flyover is being constructed as part of the Free Crossing project under the ‘Our Moscow Region’ governor’s program. Vyacheslav Velichko, Stroytransgaz’ Deputy Director General for Construction, reported the construction progress to the Governor. The flyover is expected to be opened to traffic in the 3rd quarter of 2017, i.e. a year earlier than initially planned.

“The crossing is of high priority. There have been plenty of complaints concerning the traffic intensity. Motorists were virtually in a trap. The crossing being constructed is large, costly, of high priority. I encourage everyone to monitor the construction progress,” said Andrey Vorobyev.

The project provides for the construction of a 423m-long flyover and renovation of the existing highway network. The construction section with a length of 1.3km starts at Vostochnaya street and ends where it intersects with Lebedenko street. The expected capacity of the four-lane highway will be 25,000 vehicles per day.

To date, 13 out of 15 flyover pillars have been installed, 80% of span beams has been mounted. According to Alexander Zhdanov, Construction Project Director, all the pillars and beams will be in place already by this September.

The construction of the retaining wall and road bed at the S-shaped passage between Vostochnaya str. and Silikatnaya str. is underway.

Vladimir Loktev, acting Director of ‘Road Construction Directorate’ Moscow Region Government Accountability Office, noted that less than in a year up to 25,000 vehicles per day will pass here at a speed of 60 kilometers an hour. Meanwhile, an average time in a jam at this crossing is 25 minutes an hour, and the crossing is closed for the road traffic for 12 hours a day.

Every day over 156 people work at the site, around 35 units of equipment are used.

The customer is ‘Road Construction Directorate’ Government Accountability Office, which is controlled by Moscow Region Main Highway Administration, the Contractor is PJSC Stroytransgaz. The construction and installation works totalling 3.153 bn rubles started in the 1st quarter of 2015.
