Government of the Russian Federation has allocated RUB 480 mln for construction of the Frunzensky Bridge

M.U. Sokolov, Minister of Transport of the Russian Federation, visited the construction site of the Frunzensky Bridge crossing on Friday, July 15. Minister said to the builders and media that he had good news: “A few days ago the Russian government decided to allocate additional funds for the construction of the Frunzensky Bridge in the amount of RUB 480 mln”

Thus, nearly RUB 2 bln were allocated for the construction of the Frunzensky Bridge in 2016: RUB 1 bln – from the budget of the Samara region, RUB 450 mln and RUB 480 mln. – from the federal budget. The public contract initially provided for annual volume of funding in the amount of RUB 4 bln. These rates of funding will allow to complete the construction in 2018. The construction cost is RUB 12 bln.

“Funds, that have been already allocated, will be assimilated for 100% approximately by September,” said N.I. Merkushin, Governor of the Samara region, to the minister and journalists.  “We do not rule out the possibility that additional funds will be allocated for this facility this year, in addition to those that have been already approved in Moscow,” – said the Head of the region. The Governor emphasized the strategic importance of the Frunzensky Bridge to Samara and the need to complete the construction of the facility in 2018, noting that it is a very difficult task.

During the meeting with the participation of M.Y.Sokolov it was also announced that by the order of Russian President Vladimir Putin it is planned to allocate RUB 6 bln from federal budget in 2017–2018 (3 billion annually) for the construction of the Frunzensky Bridge.

Vladislav Pototski, a representative of JSC Stroytransgaz, reported that the project is being implemented according to schedule. The work is carried around the clock. Seven pillars of the future bridge across the Bannoe bog lake have been ready. The builders have begun the final stage — installation of the superstructure. Bridge pillars are being built across the Samara River, as well as preparatory works are being carried out to construct interchanges at Shosseynaya and Frunze streets.

Future road projects via public and private partnership (PPP) were discussed during the meeting by M.Y. Sokolov, N.I. Merkushin with the participation of O.B. Fursov, Mayor of Samara, and I.I. Pivkina, Minister of Transport of the region.  Among the promising projects is the construction of “Centralnaya”  highway and a bridge across the Volga River near Klimovka village. The Governor noted that these projects would be implemented via PPP. “With regard to the “Centralnaya” highway we are going to request the funding next year. Construction of the bridge across the Volga River is scheduled to begin in 2018, via PPP. The Federal Government is ready to support these projects in spite of the difficult economic situation,” underlined N.I. Merkushkin.

Summary:

The Frunzensky bridge crossing project includes the construction of several facilities: a six-lane composite-girder bridge across the Samara River (length is 667 m, width of the carriage way is 22 m), reinforced bridge across the Bannoe bog lake (length is 79.6 m), two transport junctions at Shosseynaya and Frunze streets. Total length of a new motor way will be 2.67 km.
