PJSC Stroytransgaz (STG Group) acting as the general contractor for construction of the Volgograd Arena stadium currently constructed for the FIFA World Cup 2018 in Russia has commenced the finishing works: installation of the first floor of the stadium.

Flooring was commenced in sectors A and C: they have been already provided with the waterproof foundation slab, and the floors are currently being dressed. The builders will level and compact the sand layer with a thickness ranging from 50cm to 2m depending on the design features of different sectors. Over 40 thousand cubic meters of sand will be spent in total on stadium floor dressing. Later, internal utility networks will be mounted in the sand “cushion”, and after that the builders will install the floor’s concrete slab ready for final finishing.

The installation of 44 metal columns to support the compression ring, a metal structure intended for fixing the cable-stayed roof of the stadium at a height of over 40m, is carried out on the construction site simultaneously. So far, all columns have been mounted, and 20 out of 44 columns have been concreted.

Facade elements are being pre-assembled and installed. 7 consolidated blocks of the facade “crown”, i.e. multipath white steel structures weighing from 25 to 65 tonnes have been already mounted on the stadium building in sectors A and C.
