Construction of Entrance Lobbies of Volgograd Arena Stadium Commenced

PJSC Stroytransgaz has commenced the installation of foundation of entrance lobbies and booking offices of Volgograd Arena Stadium.

The Stadium will feature 6 entrances equipped with turnstiles for spectators, 3 booking offices, and 2 access control points for vehicles. All these facilities will require a total of 3333 cubic meters of concrete. Almost the same amount was required to construct Grandstand C, the largest grandstand of the Stadium.

During the World Cup and other major events people arriving to Volgograd Arena will be divided in accordance with internationally accepted practice, depending on their means of movement, as well as on their category (athletes, judges, medical staff, spectators, VIP guests, etc.). The capacity of the entrance lobbies is calculated as to ensure the most comfortable and safe access to the Stadium for all 45 thousand spectator in less than an hour. For example, the central entrance comprising two parts and located on the side of Prospekt Lenina, the major motor road of the city, will be able to accept 20 thousand spectators, while two entrances located at the side of the Volga River will accept 9 thousand spectators each, the remaining 7 thousand spectators will be able to enter through the side entrances.

Afterwards the spectators will move to the pedestrian overpass (a pavement circling the stadium at the height of 7-8 meters) and enter their respective sectors. Afterwards the will enter the spectators lobby and only then will reach the grandstands. The vehicles will be moving through the lower level.

So far the construction workers have begun the installation of the foundation of the central booking office and the piled foundation of the central entrance.

At the same time the Stadium is undergoing the finishing of internal rooms, including the construction of the reinforced floor of the ground floor of Volgograd Arena Stadium that will support the finished floor. Installation of the facade elements is being performed and is over 15% completed. The installation of compression ring (the main bearing metal structure of roofing cable system) has commenced.
