Footballers from Volgograd visited the stadium under construction

Volgograd Arena will become one of the best stadiums in Europe,” Alexey Zhdanov, the captain of the football team Rotor-Volgograd noted, “I have visited many stadiums in different countries and can say it with confidence. The stadium under construction is a great incentive for the team Rotor-Volgogard inducing them to return to the Premier League of Russian football, and we all do our best to complete this task. The stadium will be a new symbol of Volgograd, the city with a heroic history and strong football traditions.”

On the previous day, it was the first time when all of the players, coaches, and management of FC Rotor-Volgograd visited the site of the stadium being built for FIFA World Cup 2018 in Russia™. Footballers got acquainted with sketch plans and saw the “bowl” of Volgograd Arena. Upon completion of WC-2018, the stadium will be a base for the Volgograd club. Even today, players could walk on the field and learn the layout of all the key zones and facilities of the arena.

During the tour, the members of the club Rotor-Volgograd asked the builders plenty of questions about the configuration of stands, the location of locker rooms for teams, of rooms for coaches, referees, about design and structural solutions of the stadium facade and roof, but more often about the future playing ground of Volgograd Arena.

The players received posters of the host city of FIFA World Cup 2018™ and car stickers “I live and breathe football” with symbols of WC-2018 as FC Rotor-Volgograd joined the 2018 campaign “I drive toward the World Cup” of the regional committee.

Volgograd-Arena designed for 45 thousand seats is being built in Volgograd at the place of the dismantled Central Stadium between the Mamayev Kurgan and the right bank of the Volga River; the completion date is November 2017. Four matches of FIFA World Cup 2018™ Group Stage will be held at the stadium on June, 18, 22, 25, and 28. At the present time, the stadium Volgogard Arena has main in-situ concrete works completed, stands fully built, and the major part of the facade “crown” installed. Furthermore, workers continue installing the top metal structure of the stadium, i. e. beams of the compression ring required for mounting the roof on cable-stayed structures. In parallel to this, finishing work is underway at the stadium site. The filling of the sand foundation for the reinforced ground floor is more than half-complete. A reinforced-concrete slab is being constructed for Sector A finish floors. The construction of interior LWC partitions on the first floor of the stadium is underway.
