The traffic over the pontoon bridge in Kolomna overhauled by STG is restored

The traffic over the pontoon bridge in Kolomna overhauled by Stroytransgaz is restored, as it has been announced today by the project customer, the State-Funded Institution “Mosavtodor”. Renovation of the pontoon bridge near Cherkizovo settlement located at the 0.3 km of the regional motorway “Cherkizovo-Peski-Rozhdestvenka” was commenced in April 2016 and accomplished at the scheduled time.

“The bridge is the only shortest traffic connection for residents of Cherkizovo settlement and Peski urban community. Starting from November 29 the foot traffic was restored after the pontoon section had been set in design position. During the renovation period the passenger transportation was performed via temporary flying bridge”, said Vladimir Tsytsulin, acting Head of the State-Funded Institution of the Moscow Region “Mosavtodor”.

According to Anton Rusovskiy, the STG expert for construction compliance monitoring, the 117-meters bridge renovation covered reinforcement of land piers with in-situ concrete, total replacement of the bridge deck and asphalt coat, and wood decking. They also installed new barrier railings, clearance envelope and waiting pavilions for pedestrians.

The STG specialists sandblasted, coated and hydraulically tested 17 pontoons, fully replaced one loading rack, and repaired and stretched the second one by 3 m.

By the beginning of the renovation the service life of the Cherkizovskiy bridge exceeded 15 years. It is one of the four pontoon swing bridges in Kolomenskiy District of the Moscow Region.

The project was implemented within the scope of the contract between JSC Stroytransgaz and the State-Funded Institution “Mosavtodor” for overhaul of ten bridgeworks in the Moscow Region, i.e. overpass bridge at the 35th km of Kashirskoye Highway, pontoon bridge over the Moskva River near Cherkizovo settlement, and eight bridge crossings in various districts of the Moscow Region.
