Stroytransgaz: Ten Years in Energy Construction Sector

In 2016 JSC STG celebrated its 10-year anniversary at the energy construction market. It is one of the most innovative and prospective areas within the STG business diversification framework. At year-end 2016 the energy sector projects make about one third of the STG contract portfolio.

In 2006 the company started construction and redevelopment of generation facilities, and in 2010 it entered electrical grid construction. Over the last years STG has become a key player in the market. The company has accumulated extensive experience in design, redevelopment and construction of energy facilities. The major customers, FGC UES, MOESK and Lenenergo among them, have confidence in STG as a general contractor.

The company’s reference list includes a number of generation facilities: South-West CHP and South CHP-22 plants in Saint Petersburg, CHP-27 and Molzhaninovka CHP plants in Moscow, six power units for NPS (Unit 4 at Kalininskaya NPS, Units 1 and 2 at Novovoronezhskaya NPS, and Units 2, 3 and 4 at Rostovskaya NPS). The milestone project in the sector is the turnkey construction of South-West CHP plant; when visiting the facility, the President of the Russian Federation Vladimir Putin called this maximum automated combined heat and power plant “the smartest” one.

The STG specialists in Siberia, the south of Russia and the central part of the country covering Moscow and the Leningrad Region have constructed thousands of kilometers of power and cable lines including the 750 kV extra-high-voltage ones. For example, the high-voltage power line “Leningradskaya – Belozerskaya” is 276 km long; the 500 kV high-voltage path “Boguchanskaya HPP – Ozernaya” has 330 km in length; and the longest one is the 500 kV high-voltage power line “Rostovskaya – Tikhoretskaya No. 2” which is 360 km long. Ahead of the standard time frames STG has constructed the power delivery facilities of Unit 4 at Kalininskaya NPS, including three substations and over 500 km of 220-750 kV power lines.

STG has performed EAD, CIW and redevelopment of over 20 power substations. There are such significant projects as Yenisei Substation constructed in Siberia and occupying 25 ha of area, Goryachinskaya Substation near Lake Baikal, a number of substations for MOESK, and other facilities. In 2016 the STG specialists has commenced constructing Ust-Kut Substation in Siberia and Medvedevskaya Substation for the Skolkovo Innovation Center.

Last year STG accomplished three major projects, i.e. the 500 kV Yenisei Substation, high-voltage power line “Tataurovo – Goryachinskaya – Barguzin” featuring two substations, and Yaroslavskaya CHP feeders (the 220 kV high-voltage power line “Yaroslavskaya - Tutayev” and 220 kV high-voltage power line “Yaroslavskaya - Tveritskaya”).

In 2017 the company schedules to put into operation the 750 kV high-voltage power line “Leningradskaya – Belozerskaya”, 500 kV high-voltage power line “Rostovskaya – Andreyevskaya – Vyshestebliyevskaya» (Taman) and 110 kV high-voltage power line “Medvedevskaya”.

The STG Energy Construction Section is headed by Sergei Vladimirovich Zhitikhin supervising extensive follow-through work related to finance and projects economics, construction monitoring quality and other matters. Before April 2015 the STG energy sector was successfully headed by Mikhail Vladimirovich Khryapov, current CEO of JSC STG.
