Roof Frame Installation over the Nizhny Novgorod Stadium Stands Completed

The roof frame over the stands of the Nizhny Novgorod Stadium is completely installed. All 44 elements of the metal work (cantilever trusses) connecting the inner supporting ring with the circular support pillars of 1.4 m in diameter have been set in the final position.

At the same time the builders proceed with installation of the metal work elements (each one weighing 50 tons) to connect 44 circular support pillars with 88 triangular ones and thus form the roof frame above the lobby zone. All in all there will be 44 such elements.

The total weight of the ready frame without regard to the roofing will exceed 10,000 tons; as of today over 7,200 tons (69%) of the metal work have been installed. There are four heavy lift truck-mounted cranes operating to install the roofing.

As soon as the roof frame of the Nizhny Novgorod Stadium is completed, it will be installed over 57 thousand sq. m of the translucent polycarbonate roofing. The cover will be assembled of white and blue blocks, as specified in the approved stadium architectural design.
