The Governor highly praised the construction quality of the Nizhny Novgorod Stadium

The 20th visiting meeting of the Governor of the Nizhny Novgorod Region Valery Shantsev was held at the construction site of the Nizhny Novgorod Stadium. In the course of inspection of the arena construction the Governor highly praised the quality of works performed by the STG specialists. “I like the general contractor’s performance and approach to arrangement of work. The stadium is springing up; every time I visit it, I see something new. And I’d like to note the high quality of the works’, said Valery Shantsev. 

Earlier, in the end of 2016, the STG builders completed an important interim stage of the roof frame construction by locking the inner support ring. All 16 blocks weighing 220 tons each were installed in the final position and connected to each other above the stands. The ring of 3.5 thousand tons is supported by temporary auxiliary structures at a height of over 40 meters.

The construction was going on through the New Year holidays. The works were performed around the clock with a 2-day break for 1-2 January 2017. “At the moment the builders are installing the metal structures of the roof frame above the stands and the lobby zone. The roof section above the future spectator seats is 84% ready which means that 37 cantilever trusses out of 44 have been installed. Thus, over 6 thousand tons of the roof metal structures have been assembled as of today”, said the Stadium Construction Head Sergei Pichushkin.

After the builders complete the stadium roof frame construction, it will be installed over 57 thousand sq. m of the translucent polycarbonate roofing. The cover will be white and blue as specified in the approved stadium architectural design.

Meanwhile, installation of utility networks is in progress at the site. All in all over 35 engineering systems will be laid and installed inside the stadium building including water supply and sewage, external and internal power supply, sports and special lighting, lightning protection and grounding, heating, ventilation, air conditioning, TV and radio broadcasting systems etc. This is one of the most labor-intensive works. The networks installed in the territory around the stadium will provide for water and heat supply of the new arena, as well as for water removal.
