Overpass in Tuchkovo will be opened by the summer season

JSC Stroytransgaz (STG) is about to complete the construction of the railroad overpass at the 4th km of the Moscow-Borodino-Tuchkovo Highway (Ruzsky District). The Customer is the State Public Institution of the Moscow Region “Management of Road Construction”.

The length of the new road section with road approaches, ramps and a flyover will be 1.3 km. The expected traffic capacity will exceed 25,000 vehicles per day. The STG’s scope of works includes construction of the 423 m long four-lane overpass with two approaches, reconstruction of external utility systems, renovation of the street-road networks providing for connection of adjacent streets and residential quarters with the overpass.

The project is nearing completion; the builders have finished most of the works. The overpass is ready by 99%. There are just few things to be done to put the overpass into operation, in particular, they have to finish construction of the approaches and complete reconstruction of external utility systems.

The STG builders are well ahead of schedule. According to the Head of Directorate for Construction of Engineering Structures at STG JSC Pyotr Ponomarev, the facility will be early completed. Much to the summer residents’ delight, the regular traffic will be opened by the mid-June 2017 and not in 2018 as was initially planned. The overpass will solve the problem of massive traffic jams at the railroad crossing in the urban-type settlement Tuchkovo.

The full completion of the project is planned for October 2017. Before the autumn, it is necessary to complete passage No. 1, parking lots in front of the ambulatory-care clinic and under the overpass, renovation of Graviynaya Street and finish urban landscaping improvement.

The Project Head Sergey Melkonyan described the current situation. As of today all construction and installation works at the overpass are done. The facility has been constructed on a phase basis – the builders installed 15 piers and 14 spans comprised of 168 reinforced concrete beams of 24 to 33 meters long, performed the overpass pavement including asphalt surface, and installed noise-proof screens and steel barrier railings. There are only street lamps left to set.

The reinforced concrete support walls on the overpass approaches will be finished by the end of February.

Reconstruction of utility systems (water supply system, gas pipeline, power and heat networks, overhead lines, external lighting) will be finished in June. Most of the works have been already completed. Meanwhile we have to finish a monolithic heat network header, switch over the gas pipeline, connect the substation transformer to the city transmission circuit, and install the water supply system.

Construction is performed as part of the Free Crossing Project under the Governor’s Program ‘Our Moscow Region’.
