On January 9, a visiting meeting headed by Vladimir Gurba, Deputy Plenipotentiary Representative of the Russian President in the Southern Federal District, was held at the construction site of Volgograd Arena. The meeting was devoted to the preparation for holding the FIFA World Cup in the city of Volgograd. The meeting was attended by Andrey Bocharov, Governor of the Region, the representatives of the regional bodies, JSC Stroytransgaz and other contractors engaged in the construction of facilities for the 2018 FIFA World Cup.

Immediately prior to the meeting, Vladimir Gurba jointly with Vyacheslav Velichko, Deputy CEO for Construction, JSC Stroytransgaz, and Sergey Kamin, Volgograd Arena Construction Director, inspected the construction site of the major facility to be used in the upcoming tournament. At present, the builders are making preparations to install a cable-stayed roof, utility networks are at the stage of installation, interior finishing work is in progress, and the central staircase 123 m wide is being erected. The Deputy Plenipotentiary Presidential Representative expressed his content with the work progress: according to him, there is no doubt, that the Arena will be built in time and with proper quality.

“Sufficient scope of the work is completed. Having analyzed the approaches taken by all the bodies, we may say that as of now the organizational and management system, as well as the supervision system operate properly. It gives us confidence that the facilities will be commissioned in due time,” noted Vladimir Gurba summing up the inspection results.

In his turn, Governor Andrey Bocharov, emphasized: “We understand that the facilities, especially the infrastructural ones, are of complex nature and we are very pressed for time, but the preparation is run as scheduled. All the structures, both at the federal and the local level, work in close collaboration.”
