Preparations for glazing are in progress at the Nizhny Novgorod Stadium

The 22nd visiting meeting of the Governor of the Nizhny Novgorod Region Valery Shantsev was held at the construction site of the Nizhny Novgorod Stadium. The Governor noted they had 100 days left to the Confederations Cup. “This tournament is often called a run-through before the mundial. We all make preparations for the FIFA World Cup, and can see our stadium is also growing as the works get done. The roofing metal structures are already assembled by 90%; there are outlines of the VIP boxes visible; the lift equipment is halfway installed”, said the Governor in followup of his tour of the facility.

“When the weather improves and the temperature permanently stays above-zero, they will start finishing works, painting, and installing fixed glazing. Everything is running to plan”, added Valery Shantsev.

The Director of the Stadium Construction Sergey Pichushkin, in his turn, said that at the moment installation of partitions and walls is in progress in all sectors of the stadium, and the specialists are getting prepared to install fixed glazing: “Currently the temporary structures, which earlier supported the roof frame, are being dismantled at full throttle. We have 10 more supports to take down, and then all steel structures will be removed from the field. In situ concreting in the remaining sectors of the ground level stands is almost finished; the space zoning – partitioning and walling – is in progress. Preparations for glazing of the stadium have been started. Total of 15 thousand sq. m of internal and external fixed glazing will be installed. The glass for fixed glazing is supplied by the local Borsky Glass Works. In the coming days we will start installing external fixed glazing in the entrance lobby buildings”.

At the same time installation of internal and in-site utility networks is in progress.

Inside the stadium building the workers are currently installing grounding system, smoke exhaust and general ventilation system air ducts, and laying sewer and steam fire protection pipelines. Installation of 8 out of 42 elevators is completed; installation of individual heating plant equipment and transformer boxes is in progress.

The builders are also proceeding with laying of pipes of the in-site utility networks (around the stadium) which will provide for water and heat supply of the new arena as well as for wastewater disposal. The specialists are installing communication and telephone networks.

Over 1300 workers are involved in the stadium construction.
