Deck of Frunzensky Bridge moves out

JSC Stroytransgaz (STG), a General Contractor of Frunzensky Bridge construction, has started to push the bridge deck across the Samara River.

The central portion of the deck will hang over the river between pier 2 (right bank) and pier 7 (left bank). It will be assembled from 12 sections with a total length of 596.5m.

As of today, the first 88.5m long section is complete and is being pushed 3 meters per hour using jacks, so the assembled section with a total weight of 1200 tonnes will have travelled 42 meters over 24 hours. Then, assembling of the next sections will start on the service bridge (a dedicated equipped site). As sections become ready they will be connected to each other and also pushed towards the right bank. At the end of all launching stages the first section will be moved into place between piers 2 and 3 and the last one between piers 6 and 7.

The abutment span deck structures will be installed right into place between abutments 1 and 2 and abutments 7 and 8.

Additional information:

At the same time, erection of the remaining piers (3, 4, 5 and 6) of the Samara River continues on the site. The total number of piles sunk is 593 out of 2081 required by the Project, these will support the foundations of not only the Samara River Bridge and the Bannoye Lake Bridge, but also interchanges, five retaining walls and an overpass at the ramp over the main route motorway.

On the left bank of the Samara River, the builders have installed prism piles for piers of the overpass at interchange ramp C-3 exiting to Shosseynaya street. The other seven ramps are being prepared and protected against deformations. Bored piles are continuing to be installed on the right bank to erect the left retaining wall for the ramps at the Frunze interchange.

Slopes of the embankment near the abutment piers are still being reinforced at the Bannoye Lake Bridge, construction of which was complete in December 2016. To reach the bridge’s final completion, the builders will only need to install the bridge floor, asphalt and railing.
