JSC Stroytransgaz (STG) has completed the construction of the four-lane overpass above the railroad at the 4th km of the Moscow-Borodino-Tuchkovo highway (Ruzsky District) 6 months ahead of schedule. Routine traffic along the new highway was open on June 28, 2017, road capacity here is 25 thousand vehicles per day. The Customer is Main Directorate Of Road Facilities Of Moscow Region (MDRF MR). This is the 19th overpass within the governor’s program “Our Moscow Region” constructed to eliminate transport problems in the region.

The official opening ceremony of the facility was attended by Governor of the Moscow Region Andrey Vorobyev, General Director of Stroytransgaz Mikhail Khryapov, Minister of Transport and Road Infrastructure of the Moscow Region Igor Treskov, First Deputy Head of MDRF MR Alexey Kucherov and others.

Andrey Vorobyev expressed his gratitude to Stroytransgaz, noting that “Tuchkovo residents have been waiting for this overpass for 30 years.” “The lack of normal crossing over the railway seriously hindered the development of the district. People spent hours in traffic jams, reaching their destinations with delays. Thanks to STG, which has accomplished the construction of the overpass almost half a year ahead of the deadline, today we can open the traffic,” emphasized the governor and added that the company will participate in the construction of the next facilities.

“This overpass was constructed using modern materials, that will extend maintenance-free operation period considerably ,” said Project Director Petr Ponomarev. The approaches to the artificial structure are covered with stone matrix asphalt, which reduces noise level and has a warranty period of five years. The topping of the overpass is made of mastic asphalt, which has the warranty period of eight years.

According to Alexey Kucherov, who expressed his high appreciation of STG contribution to the construction of the overpass, “works had been performed in any weather, almost round-the-clock”. For their conscientious work, the company’s specialists were awarded with honorary diplomas and letters of thanks from the Directorate of Road Facilities and the Administration of the Tuchkovo Municipal Settlement. The Customer particularly noted merits of Vladislav Pototsky, Director for implementation of infrastructure projects of STG, who will be soon presented with the award by Igor Treskov personally. STG started the project execution in March 2015. Works are planned to be completed in August, and the facility is planned to be put into operation in full by September 1, 2017. Currently, the builders proceed with the works on improvement of the site and the adjacent street and road network. The Ministry of Transport and Road Infrastructure of Moscow region informed that pedestrian zones on Vostochnaya and Lebedenko Streets will be additionally arranged at request of local residents.

Background

The constructed overpass is 423 m long. The total length of the road section with the overpass is 1.3 km. The overpass and approaches thereto are equipped with the up-to-date road lighting system and noise-proof screens, and sidewalks are arranged along the overpass.

STG provided the clearance of minimum 7 m between the span and the railway tracks. The structure rests on 15 monolithic reinforced concrete supports. Spans of the overpass are made using 168 reinforced-concrete beams of 21, 24 and 33 meters long. 1432 reinforced concrete piles have been driven under the foundation of all artificial structures.

This road section previously featured low throughput capacity due to the regulated crossing near the Tuchkovo railway station. In total the railway crossing was closed during up to 12 hours per day which was the cause of traffic collapse and great inconvenience for local residents.

The overpass has allowed solving the transport problem. It connects two parts of the Tuchkovo settlement and makes it possible to reach the high-speed Minsk highway easily, and also provides free movement to Moscow. Once the new facility has been commissioned, the crossing over the railway tracks of Smolensk direction of the Moscow Railway will be closed. This will make it possible to remove the restriction on the reduction of commuter trains movement intervals.
