The Onset of Roof Mounting at the Nizhny Novgorod Stadium

The procedure for mounting the roof of translucent polycarbonate at the Nizhny Novgorod Stadium has been launched. The total area of roof cladding will be ca. 57,000 m². The progress of work has been witnessed by Valery Shantsev, the Governor of the Nizhny Novgorod Region, when attending the site meeting that took place on the construction site on June 26, 2017.

“Stroytransgaz has commenced building the roof of the Stadium made of high strength translucent polycarbonate. Roof cladding will be arranged above the stands and foyer to protect spectators from precipitation. Three colours - white, blue and blue alternating in checkerboard order will be used in the roofing”, said the Construction Manager of the Stadium Sergei Pichushkin.

Meanwhile, other types of construction activities at the Stadium are being carried out. “Mounting of utility systems is underway, builders are engaged in general improvement and road furnishing. There is much work still to be done, just as I assumed, since final events always seem to be such straightforward, but are proved very laborious”, said Valery Shantsev, Governor of the Region.

Construction of the football field is in full swing - the aeration, drainage and irrigation systems have been installed, 5 km of field heating piping out of 36 km have already been laid. A pedestrian overpass is being built, finishing works are underway, specialists are applying a protective polymer coating to the spectator stands, over 70,000 holes (51% of the total) have been drilled to install the seats.

More than 2100 workers are employed at the construction site.
