TV coverage on the event

Stroytransgaz started installation of Volgograd Arena steel structures on which roof cladding of an area of 77 thous. sq. m will be directly resting.

Specialists are erecting arch purlins (steel structures resembling an arch) on the trusses above the lobby of the Stadium. The load carrying structure made of arch purlins will also be erected on the cable-stayed system once it has been raised above the stadium stands.

“A complex subsystem will form a relief required for installation of roof cladding made of an environmentally friendly polymer material. The football field of the stadium will remain open, said Construction Director Sergey Kamin. We will attract industrial climbers along with high riggers to install the roof subsystem and cladding. Currently, they are assembling the safety system made by a back scratcher and steel ropes to securing the safety harness used by the installers.”

Due to the system of arch purlins, the roof will incline towards the compression ring, on which storm and snowmelt water gutters will be arranged. In case of rain, water will flow into the storm sewage system through internal piping system. Local wastewater treatment facilities have been installed to date. Water gutters and piping will be heated, so as to prevent ice formation and to facilitate snow melting.

In parallel, the second stage of lifting of the cable-stayed roofing system is currently deployed at the Volgograd Arena. Once this procedure is complete, specialists will raise the cable-stayed structure to attain the design position at the top elevation of 49.5m.

Installation of the process equipment of the football field in spaces located under the stadium stands is in progress. Finishing of internal rooms, applying floor-to-ceiling glass panels and installing hinged ventilated facades is on-going. Construction of entrance lobbies and encircling walking gallery is reaching completion. Installation of utility lines and equipment, and also general improvement of the stadium area are continued.

Over 2000 persons are employed on-site.
