STG to build the second and third start-up facilities for Krasnogorsk interchange

In July 2017, Stroytransgaz was awarded the tender for the construction of the second and third start-up facilities for the two-level interchange at the intersection of the Highways Volokolamskoe, Penyaginskoe and Ilyinskoe in Krasnogorsk district of the Moscow Region. The Customer is Road Construction Administration, Moscow Region. The project is worth of RUB 4.4bn. The construction will be financed from the Regional Road Fund.

“The interchange at the intersection of the Highways Volokolamskoye and Ilyinskoye is listed as a top priority project for the Moscow Region. The project will put right the tough traffic situation in Krasnogorsk,” said Igor Treskov, Minister of Transport and Road Infrastructure, Moscow Region. “Activities at the second and third start-up facilities are scheduled to begin soon. Work at all the three sections is planned to be complete by late 2018.”

The second start-up facility includes the construction of the left portion of the main crossover on the Volokolamskoye Highway over the Riga-bound railway, crossover at the ramp exiting the Volokolamskoye Highway to the Ilyinskoye Highway, overground pedestrian crossing over the Ilyinskoye Highway and bridge across the Ban’ka river.

During the construction of the third start-up facility a turnaround flyover on the Volokolamskoye Highway within the City of Moscow will be built, as well as bridge approaches.

As part of the first start-up facility, which was launched into construction in March 2016, the right side of the main overpass on the Volokolamskoye Highway over the Riga-bound railway is being constructed. The project provides for re-installation of utilities for all the three start-up facilities. The construction cost is RUB 6.8bn.

“The interchange will have a length of about 9km, six lanes going from the Volokolamskoe Highway, four lanes going from the Ilyinskoe Highway and two more lanes from the Penyaginskoe Highway. The total throughput capacity of the new interchange will be over 80,000 vehicles per day,” said Vladimir Loktev, acting Director at Road Construction Administration, Moscow Region.

Also, renovation of the sections of the adjoining roads will be carried out, and ramps to the said roads will be constructed. To ensure safe and easy movement of residents of adjacent districts the pedestrian undercrossings and overground crossings will be constructed.
