Vitaly Mutko visited the Volgograd Arena site

As part of his inspection visit to Volgograd on 25 July 2017, Vitaly Mutko, the Deputy Prime Minister of the Russian Federation, visited the site of the Volgograd Arena stadium. Andrey Bocharov, the Governor of the Volgograd Region, and Mikhayil Khryapov, STG’s CEO, reported on progress of construction of the main regional sports venue to the Deputy Prime Minister.

In the course of his visit, Vitaly Mutko noted a significant transformation of the site since his last visit to the stadium in December 2016, with the completed installation of the facade, the cable-stayed roofing structure above the grandstands and girders (steels) above the lobby; commenced assembly and installation of the roofing system; and active landscaping of the off-site areas.

Concluding his visit, Vitaly Mutko expressed his confidence in successful completion of the project: “Now, we are dealing with finishing, internal utilities, and grass lawn. One can see that the stadium is about 70% complete, and in certain work areas even more. I have no doubt that it will be commissioned in time... Then we can schedule some pilot games here. At least, we have agreed to organize the Russian cup-final here next year.”

Currently, the roof covering made of polymer materials with a total area of 77,000 sq.m is being installed above the “Volgograd Arena”. Erection of the cast-in-situ structures of the entrance lobbies has been completed. The construction of the encircling walking gallery is nearing completion with concreting finished for sectors A, B, and C, and sector D being in progress. The work has been started to apply a polymer coating to the grandstands, to install guardrails at the top tiers of the grandstands. Installation of utility systems and equipment, finishing and fitting of floor-to-ceiling glazing at the stadium and entrance lobbies are in progress.
