The third stage of incremental launching of the Frunzensky Bridge superstructure has been completed

JSC Stroytransgaz has completed the third stage of incremental launching of the central element of the Frunzensky Bridge superstructure over the Samara River. Over the past month, the first two bridge elements, which were pushed longitudinally earlier, have been connected with the third element. Recently, four jacks have pushed a 2,976-ton steel structure with a total length of 220.5 m towards the right bank by another 28.5 m.

Currently, the builders are carrying out the pre-assembly works on steel structures of the fourth bridge element using the available assembly jig (on a specially equipped site). When ready the assembled bridge element will also be pushed towards the water area of the river. The next stage of the incremental launching is planned for the end of August.

“High accuracy is important during this process. It is achieved due to geodetic control of the planned horizontal location and elevation from several points of the superstructure steel structures being pushed longitudinally,” said Ruslan Mansumov, an expert of the Construction Management Team of the Frunzensky Bridge Project.

In accordance with the project, the superstructure of the bridge across the Samara River will consist of three elements. Central element with a total length of 596.5 m will occupy its design position between pier No 2 (right bank) and pier No 7 (left bank) after completion of incremental launching.

Construction of two piers in the water area of the river continues. Builders perform preparatory works on pier No 3 before laying the concrete. At the same time, a sheet pile screen is being constructed on pier No 4. Eight piers will support the entire Frunzensky Bridge across the Samara River, and six piers have already been built. At the same time, the transport junction for the left-bank transport hub with access to Shosseynaya Street is being constructed, and builders are erecting the crossover supports at the interchange ramp C-3.
