Installation of Spectator Seats Has Been Started at Nizhny Novgorod Stadium

JSC Stroytransgaz (STG) has started the installation of spectator seats at Nizhny Novgorod Stadium being constructed as part of the preparation for the 2018 FIFA World Cup™ in Russia. The arena meant for 45,000 spectator seats will be furnished with locally manufactured ones specifically designed under order of STG.

“The seats were designed so as to ensure maximum comfort for the spectators who are going to attend the match. The seats have increased width and depth and are provided with side supports. The shape of the seats prevents sliding,” Sergey Pichushkin, Head of Construction of the Stadium says. “Being exposed to physical effect, the seats do not develop sharp and cutting edges, which certainly proves their safety.”

The main part of the seats is made of frost-resistant polypropylene with composite additives. The VIP zone will have high-comfort seats with armrests and soft elements upholstered with high-class eco-leather. The balcony of the second level will be provided with seats for limited mobility persons and their escort. These vandal-proof seats with a ruggedized metal frame have previously passed laboratory tests for toxicity, fire safety and durability. The seats being installed conform to all FIFA requirements.

According to the approved design, seats of three colours ― white, blue and light blue ― are being installed at the Stadium. These colours will alternate to form the so-called pixel (mosaic) pattern. Such seat arrangement will allow for creating a visual effect of a packed stadium.

Other concurrent operations are proceeding at the facility, too. The roof cladding of translucent polycarbonate is being carried on. The installation of utility systems and equipment, finishing and fitting of the floor-to-ceiling glazing at the Stadium and entrance lobbies as well as landscaping are in progress. The football pitch on which the previously sown Ryegrass mixture has spouted is being further arranged.
