Football Player Denis Cheryshev Has Tested the Football Field of Nizhny Novgorod Stadium

Ambassadors of the 2018 World Cup from Nizhny Novgorod – a football coach Dmitry Cheryshev and his son, a member of the Russian national football team Denis Cheryshev – have evaluated the readiness of the city and Nizhny Novgorod Stadium for the upcoming mundial.

The midfielder of the Spanish club Villarreal CF Denis Cheryshev has become not only the first Russian to play for the best club of the twentieth century according to FIFA – Real Madrid CF – but also he has become the first professional football player to test the field of Nizhny Novgorod Stadium. The footballer has tested the lawn from a professional point of view by performing football tricks on it and by scoring an improvised goal. According to Denis, the football field is in excellent condition, and the stadium impresses with its scale and beauty. “I am glad that I have managed to visit the stadium under construction – it is just a super stadium. I hope the Russian team will play here.”

The father of the football player, Dmitry Cheryshev, said that the 2018 World Cup offered great opportunities for creating a modern infrastructure in the city and for development of football in the region. “Everything that is happening in the city, at Strelka, is a screaming success. The stadium on the background of Alexander Nevsky Cathedral looks natural and gorgeous,” said coach when sharing his impressions.

In October, the natural sown lawn of the stadium will be sewn with artificial fibres. This will increase its durability in more than three times, after which the field will be ready for a “big football game”.
