STG Has Completed the Repair of the Pontoon Bridge in Kolomna

JSC Stroytransgaz has completed the repair of Golutvin pontoon pedestrian bridge over the Moskva River in Kolomna near Moscow. The works aimed at restoration of the engineering structure were commenced in August 2017 and were completed two months ahead of the schedule.

Golutvin low-level bridge had been in operation for about ten years by the beginning of the restoration works. The maximum permissible period between repairs for such facilities is eight years. The opening bridge 137 metres long connects Sergievskoe Settlement and the nearest inhabited localities with the historical centre of Kolomna. It is located near Staro-Golutvin Monastery and is the last bridge on the Moskva River before its influx into the Oka River, as well as one of the four pontoon low-level bridges in Kolomna District.

According to Alexander Rozov, Head of Infrastructure Facilities Repair and Maintenance Directorate, works at the facility were performed on a 24-hour basis, with about 30 specialists engaged onsite. A bypass bus route was arranged instead of the temporary ferry crossing for the convenience of the local residents.

Within the framework of the project, the bank seats were reinforced with monolithic concrete, the bridge road bed, two floating piers and electric winches were replaced, the bridge structures were painted, the exterior lighting and ship warning lights were repaired. Waiting pavilions for pedestrians were provided for the time of ship journey, new barrier railing was installed, and asphalt concrete pavement was constructed.

The project was implemented within the terms of the contract for repair of engineering structures in Moscow Region concluded by and between JSC Stroytransgaz and SFO Mosavtodor.
