STG pushed into place the span on Krasnogorsk overpass

Stroytransgaz has completed the launching of the deck on the right side of the overpass spanning the railway to Riga. The work was carried out right above the tracks as part of the first start-up package for the 2-level interchange project in Krasnogorsk. The Customer is the Road Construction Administration, Moscow Region.

The span is 253 meters long, weighing 2,200 tons in total. “The whole process was split into five stages (4 hours each), which were completed during service breaks (train service interruptions) coordinated with the railway operator,” said Peter Ponomaryov, Project Director. “Thanks to well-coordinated efforts of the STG team, the job was done precisely within the time limits set,” he added.

Concurrently, the builders began to install supporting elements, in-situ concreting is continuing, and the bridge deck is being prepared to be installed on the overpass, which will have a total length of 358m. Utilities are continuing to be relocated, the Ban’ka river bed is being straightened. Work on the second start-up package has started, as part of which the left side of the overpass is being erected. STG is installing piers for the structure, which will have six of them.

By July 2018 major construction and installation on the right side of the overpass will have been completed, and normal traffic will be allowed under the temporary arrangement with two lanes in each direction, unloading the railway crossing.

Additional information

The Krasnogorsk Interchange project is being implemented in three phases. The work on the first start-up package was started by STG in March 2016. In July 2017 Stroytransgaz signed the contract for the construction of the second and third start-up packages of the interchange. Built at these phases will be the left side of the overpass on the main course of the Volokolamskoye Highway over the Riga railway, the Ban’ka bridge, overpass at the ramp exiting the Volokolamskoye Highway to the Ilyinskoye Highway, and a turnaround flyover on the Volokolamskoye Highway within Moscow City limits. All the three packages are expected to be complete by late 2018.
