The stadiums built by JSC STG for the FIFA World Cup 2018 in Russia have passed their last main examination before the Championship. Third test matches were held at the Volgograd and Nizhny Novgorod arenas

The final game was played at the Nizhny Novgorod Stadium on May, 6 - the day of the arena opening ceremony. A new attendance record was made at the match - the duel of FC Olimpiyets (Nizhny Novgorod) vs FC Luch-Energiya (Vladivostok) gathered 42,100 spectators.  The brutal fight resulted in the 1:0 victory of “Olimpiets”.

Volgograd-Arena saw its third test match on May, 9.  On the Victory Day the stadium accepted the first Olymp-Russian Football Cup final match in the hero-city history.  The game was visited by more than 40,000 fans (40,373) for whom the best spectating arrangements had been made. FC Tosno (Leningrad region) severely struggled to win 2:1 from Avangard (Kursk).

Both stadiums were highly qualified after the games held. Acting Governor of Nizhny Novgorod region Gleb Nikitin mentioned that the stadium “is as splendid and gorgeous” as the city of Nizhny Novgorod. The Volgograd Arena was visited by the inspection committee headed by Deputy Prime Minister of Russia Vitaly Mutko who expressed his confidence that the World Cup games going to be held at the Volgograd Arena will be played “at the highest level”.

Under the FIFA World Cup 2018 in Russia four games will be played at the Volgograd Arena - on June 18, 22, 25 and 28, and the Nizhny Novgorod Stadium will accept four matches - on June 18, 21, 24 and 27 and July 1 and 6.
