The 8th stage of incremental launching of the Frunzensky Bridge superstructure has started

JSC Stroytransgaz continues the construction of a strategic facility for Samara Region – the Frunzensky bridge crossing. Currently, the builders focus on the 8th of 11 stages of incremental launching of the bridge over-water superstructure across the Samara River, which started shortly before.

Before the beginning of the 8th stage, the builders completed the pre-assembly and docking of 916 t steel structures with a 4959 t section of superstructure which was incrementally launched during the previous stages. After the 8th stage, the structure with a total weight of 5875 t and a length of 485 m (including the auxiliary structure – launching girder) will shift in the direction of the right bank of the river by another 43.5 m. After completion of all 11 stages of incremental launching, a 559.7 m over-water superstructure will be in its design position between the second and seventh pillars of the bridge. Thereafter, the builders will mount the remaining two sections of the superstructure using the cranes: right-bank section – between the pillars No 1 and No 2, left-bank section – between pillars No 7 and No 8.

Simultaneously, the works are being carried out on other facilities of the bridge crossing. At the transport junction of Shosseynaya Street, the superstructure of a 70.7 m overpass is being prepared for concreting – specialists are building auxiliary facilities and structures. At the transport junction of Frunze Street the retaining walls are being constructed to ensure the stability of slopes of the right bank of the Samara River. Embankment filling on the main motorway is underway.

Project Information:

The construction project includes erection of the six-lane composite-girder bridge across the Samara River (667 m long with a 22 m wide carriageway), reinforced concrete bridge over the boggy Bannoye Lake (79.6 m long), construction of the transport junction and overpass over the main motorway on Shosseynaya Street, construction of the transport junction and five retaining walls made of cast in-situ reinforced concrete on Frunze Street, and construction of the main motorway. The new motorway will be 2.67 km long. The bridge crossing will connect Samara and Kuybyshev Regions, and it will ensure the flow of traffic in the direction of federal highways M-32 and M-5.

So far, a bridge has been built across Bannoe Lake, all 8 bridge pillars have been erected across the Samara River, and 5 overpass pillars have been erected at the C-3 exit over the main motorway of the transport junction on Shosseynaya Street. The incremental launching of the bridge superstructure across the Samara River is underway, and other facilities of the bridge crossing are being constructed on both banks of the river. The works are carried out in accordance with the schedule approved.
